Bioactive collagen peptides for dogs
The essential food supplement for better mobility and strong joints, for your senior, young dog and puppy.
Whether playing, doing sports or going for a walk together - your dog spends the best moments in life with you.
Problems climbing stairs and getting up, not being able to jump in and out of the car, lying down more, losing the joy of playing, reluctance to move, while growing or after injuries, these can all be signs of joint problems. Osteoarthritis, arthritis, hip joint (hd) and elbow joint dysplasia are unfortunately not uncommon in dogs.
CarniAktiv provides your dog with the essential building blocks for new mobility and rapid regeneration of joints, bones and muscles. CarniAktiv thus actively supports the relief of wear and age-related complaints, but also the healthy growth of the entire musculoskeletal system in young dogs.
- Promotes optimal joint function and resilient bones in your dog.
- More mobility e. g. when climbing stairs and standing up
- Supports fast regeneration under high stress and after injuries
- Promotes optimal growth (development) of your puppy
- Can also be given as a nutritive supplement in cases of e. g. arthrosis.
Scientific studies prove the anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effect of collagen peptides.
Which dogs benefit most from CarniAktiv?
Puppies during rearing, young dogs, working dogs, dogs in competitive sports and under high stress, old and sluggish dogs, especially large dogs.

Life is movement - preferably pain-free!
With increasing age, the body's own production of collagen and proteoglycans slows down, so that build-up and breakdown are no longer in balance. Complaints are the result.
Feeding certain bioactive collagen peptides, as has been scientifically proven, promotes the body's own production of collagen and proteoglycans and thus supports the health of the entire supporting tissue.
Scientific studies prove the effect of collagen peptides:
- Increase and improvement of cartilage mass, cartilage cells and proteoglycan density.
- Natural , pain reduction without side effects
- Reduction of cartilage-degrading mmp13 protein
- Anti-inflammatory effect (reduction of tnf mrna)
- Increase in the formation of aggrecan, type I collagen and type II collagen
In addition to the high proportion of selected bioactive collagen peptides, vitamin c, which is important for the body's own collagen synthesis, together with the proteoglycan glucosamine, round off the composition for a strong all-round supply.
Collagen: the decisive factor for health, vitality and mobility
Whether as the basic building block of our skeletal bones, the most important functional carrier in the entire musculoskeletal system, whether in the muscles, skin and hair - collagen is omnipresent in the body.
The bioactive collagen peptides used in CARNIAKTIV® have the lowest molecular mass and thus the highest bioavailability of all collagen products currently on the market in the pet food sector.
The tiny molecular mass of only 2,000 daltons on average (conventionally 5,000 daltons and larger) is the basic prerequisite for the exceptionally high effectiveness of CARNIAKTIV®. It guarantees a particularly high proportion of di- and tripeptides, because only these stimulate the body's own collagen production.
In addition:
- Enzymatically extracted collagen peptides in premium quality from human dietetics.
- Particularly well tolerated, absolutely free of side effects and natural
- Is also tolerated without problems by people with food allergies (hypoallergenic)
- Free from fat, colourings, synthetic flavours and preservatives
- With glucosamine and vitamin c as important cofactors for the body's own collagen formation
- 100% collagen peptides from free-range pasture-raised beef
- Developed by the vet for your dog
Gelatine, collagen hydrolysate, bioactive collagen peptides - what is the difference? Gelatine, collagen hydrolysate and bioactive collagen peptides differ essentially in the manufacturing process, the molecular mass and the proportion of components useful for the body's own collagen formation.
Gelatine: Although gelatine is made from the same basic substance as bioactive collagen peptides, it contains very large collagen peptides (large molecular, >100.000 dalton) and is not water-soluble. These large peptides can only be processed by the body to a very small extent. To feed your dog the same amount of collagen through gelatine, you need 20 to 30 times the amount as carniaktiv. (e. G. 10g carniaktiv correspond to approx. 300g gelatine). In addition, gelatine lacks additives such as vitamin c and glucosamine sulphate, which are crucial for building bone matrix and supporting tissue.
To obtain gelatine, the initially insoluble connective tissueof (mainly) skin and bones of pigs and cattle, but also of poultry and fish, is subjected to a digestion process (Hydrolyse) that breaks down Peptid-the peptide bonds so that the collagen thus made water-soluble can be extracted. The digestion can be done by boiling or by treatment with acids and bases and subsequent extraction.
Collagen hydrolysate has an average molecular mass of 15,000 - 30,000 daltons and, unlike gelatine, is water-soluble. However, in addition to the highly effective collagen peptides, it also contains a large proportion of components that are "unimportant" for the body.
In addition, there is a risk that the large-molecule peptides in the collagen hydrolysate are not completely absorbed and migrate into the small intestine. There, toxins (biogenic amines) can develop which can lead to diarrhoea and digestive disorders.
Every collagen hydrolysate naturally meets the requirements for food, but not all of them are actually used in human food supplements. What does not meet the requirements for the human market is used in the animal sector. This does not have to be bad, it can also be low-molecular peptides that do not fully meet the odour score, for example, but it can also be collagen peptides with molecular masses that are too high for human use.
Collagen hydrolysate is produced from natural collagen (gelatine) which is purified by hydrolysis (water extraction process) and usually broken down into large-molecule polypeptide chains (15,000 - 30,000 daltons) using acids.
In addition to longer protein chains, shorter peptides (short-chain amino acid compounds) are also produced in varying amounts and sizes (molecular mass).
Bioactive collagen petides:
highly bioavailable, so-called bioactive collagen peptides have a tiny molecular mass of about 2,000 - 15,000 daltons (collagen hydrolysate approx. 20,000 daltons, gelatine approx. 100,000 daltons).
The bioactive collagen peptides used in CARNIAKTIV® have the lowest molecular mass (2,000 daltons) and thus the highest bioavailability of all collagen products currently on the market in the animal sector.
The smaller the dalton number, the smaller the peptides, which are then composed of only a few amino acids, and the higher the proportion of the highly effective di- and tripeptides. Only these are useful for the body's own collagen production. Due to their small size, they can be absorbed directly through the intestinal wall without being a burden. This bioavailability is one prerequisite for the high effectiveness of bioactive collagen peptides, the other is the highly concentrated content of molecules that are truly essential for the supporting tissue.
A particularly high proportion of amino acids that only occur in the supporting tissue (collagen type i, type ii) are, in addition to the extremely small molecule size, a basic prerequisite for the extraordinary effectiveness of the bioactive collagen peptides we use in carniaktiv. The high effectiveness is supported by the simultaneous availability of vitamin c, which is essential for the body's own collagen synthesis, and glucosamine sulphate, which is essential for the body's own synthesis of hyaluronic acid.
Natural collagen (gelatine) is concentrated (broken down) by a hydrolysis process and subsequent enzymatic cleavage into individual tiny peptides, sterilised and dried. The tiny molecular mass of only 2 kda (= 2000 dalton) on average guarantees a particularly high proportion of di- and tripeptides, because only these are highly effective. In this way, the collagen peptides that are crucial for the regeneration of the individual areas (including bone, cartilage, connective tissue, skin) can be filtered out.
Why feed collagen?
Promotion of natural protection, supplier of essential building blocks for collagen regeneration
Difficulty getting up, problems climbing stairs, no longer being able to jump in and out of the car, increased lying down, loss of joy in playing... There are many good reasons to think about nutritive support for the supporting tissue of our four-legged friends.
With 30% of total body protein, collagen is not only the most abundant protein, but:
The basis of health, mobility, strength and elasticity.
Whether as the basic building block of our skeletal bones, the most important functional carrier in all joints, intervertebral discs, ligaments and tendons, whether in the muscles, skin, respiratory tract, internal organs, nose, eyes and ears, collagen is omnipresent in the body.
Collagen is the decisive factor for health, vitality and mobility. With increasing age (in humans as early as 25 years), the body's own production of collagen and proteoglycans slows down, so that build-up and breakdown are no longer in balance. The resulting imbalance becomes visible externally in the form of the first wrinkles.
Highly bioavailable special collagen peptides supplied with food - as has been proven in numerous scientific studies - can successfully stimulate the body's own formation of collagen and proteoglycans again.
What are bioactive collagen peptides?
Natural collagen is broken down into individual tiny peptides by a hydrolysis process and subsequent enzymatic cleavage. In this way, the collagen peptides that are crucial for the regeneration of individual areas (including bone, cartilage, connective tissue and skin) can be filtered out.
These support and promote the body's own formation of proteoglycans and collagen. They are therefore bioactive.
Due to their small size, they pass unrestricted through the intestinal wall directly into the bloodstream. They can be almost completely utilised by the body and thus have a very high bioavailability.
Bioactive collagen gene peptides have a much lower mass (2,000 - 5,000 daltons) than the peptides contained in collagen hydrolysate (15,000 - 30,000). One reason why feeding collagen hydrolysates / collagen peptides sometimes leads to soft faeces or even diarrhoea is often because the molecular mass is too high! The large molecular peptides in the collagen hydrolysate can migrate into the small intestine and develop toxins (biogenes) which in turn can lead to diarrhoea.
Resilient/mobile joints
In order to ensure undisturbed joint function, the body needs sufficient joint fluid and a shock-absorbing, elastic, stable cartilage mass that enables smooth, pain-free joint movement under load. The basic substance of all supporting tissue and thus also of articular cartilage is collagen. Proteoglycans (macromolecules with sugar chains) are embedded in the collagen fibrils. In healthy supporting tissue, the ratio of biological build-up and breakdown of collagen and proteoglycans is balanced.
Cartilage is structurally a network of collagen fibrils with proteoglycans (macromolecules with sugar chains, such as aggrecan) embedded in them. The combination of viscoplastic collagen fibres and proteoglycans (especially aggrecan), balanced by nature, makes it possible for the cartilage to soak up water (joint fluid) like a sponge and thus absorb hard impacts without any problems. In healthy cartilage tissue, the ratio between the build-up and breakdown of proteoglycans (e. G. Aggrecan, glucosamine) is balanced. With increasing age, the formation of collagen slows down, the build-up and breakdown of aggrecan is no longer balanced, and signs of wear and tear occur. But aggrecan is also the first component of cartilage to be destroyed in the event of overload (slipping, falling, cold start). In addition, as soon as the healthy balance is disturbed, enzymes from the joint fluid cause the degradation of aggrecan to increase.
Current treatments for damage to the supporting tissue with painkillers (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), selective cox-2 inhibitors, ointments (with painkillers) or capsaicin, injections with cortisone (they should be used with caution due to the side effect of reducing hyaluronic acid and thus causing renewed damage to the joint cartilage), have an effect, but of course also side effects. span>
The bioactive collagen peptides used in carniaktiv - as proven by scientific studies - can favourably influence inflammatory processes and contribute to a rapid improvement of the condition, without harmful side effects. .
Scientific studies on bioactive collagen peptides have shown (both in vitro and in vivo):
- natural, side-effect-free pain reduction
- positive effect on chondrocyte function
- dose-dependent increase in cartilage mass, cartilage cells and proteoglycan matrix after injury
- reduction of cartilage-degrading mmp13 protein
- anti-inflammatory effect (reduction of tnf mrna)
- significant increase in proteoglycan density in cartilage
- increase in the formation of aggrecan (type I collagen) and type II collagen
- increased number and activity of cartilage-forming cells
Resilient bone
90% of the organic bone substance consists of collagen fibres, which form the basic structure of the bone (the so-called bone matrix) into which the inorganic minerals calcium, phosphorus, magnesium are deposited and give the bone strength. Bones are in a constant process of formation and degradation throughout life. Every year, about 15% of the bone mass is renewed in humans, and even more in dogs.
As soon as the balance of building up and breaking down collagen-rich bone matrix is abandoned, there is a loss of bone density (osteopenia) and finally the dreaded osteoporosis. Bioactive collagen peptides showed in scientific studies that they can help to keep the collagen content in the bone in balance and thus maintain and significantly support bone health. The ability to stimulate bone-building cells (osteoblasts) has also been impressively demonstrated in cell culture. Of course, your older dog will particularly benefit from the special collagen peptides contained in CarniAktiv, but carniaktiv is also a sensible nutritive measure and support after bone fractures, in the case of bone malpositions or also for the development of a stable healthy skeleton in puppies or young dogs.
Healthy skin and shiny coat
"true beauty comes from within", as the saying goes, and this is not wrong, because the collagen content of the skin has a decisive influence on our appearance. Wrinkling of the human skin is, just like reduced hair volume, an expression of reduced collagen content. This coincides with the aforementioned natural decline in the body's own collagen synthesis with increasing age. Now your dog/cat will certainly not have any problems with the first wrinkles, but as a "bonus" carniaktiv can provide resistant healthy skin, strong paws with healthy claws and a dense, beautiful coat.
Strong muscles
Protein is essential for building muscle and ensuring quick recovery after physical exertion (sports). We know this in the form of protein drinks in the gym. Dogs and cats have a naturally protein-rich diet, yet important protein components (amino acids) may be insufficient to develop optimal muscles.
CarniAktiv can provide nutritive support for the development of healthy muscles and rapid recovery after athletic exertion and strengthen the entire supporting tissue. This can significantly reduce the risk of injury while increasing mobility. The "fuel" of every muscle cell is the atp (adenosine triphosphate) it produces and a peptide molecule called creatinine (which consists of the amino acids glycine, arginine and methionine) is significantly involved in the recovery of used atp. CarniAktiv's high content of arginine and glycine (approx. 28%) can increase the body's own creatinine production and thus contribute to better physical condition!
So there are many good reasons to give CarniAktiv to your dog:
- optimal growth
- optimal energy supply in the muscle cell
- fast regeneration after exertion
- promotes healthy mobility and strong muscles
- What distinguishes CarniAktiv from other collagen products? Antwort anzeigen
CarniAktiv differs significantly from other collagen products in the structure and quality of the raw materials..
- CarniAktiv contains only collagen peptides from free-range cattle. These are also used in exactly the same quality in human dietetics and are also significantly smaller than most of the collagen peptides obtained from pigs in conventional collagen products.
- The collagen peptides in carniaktiv have the smallest molecular mass and thus the highest bioavailability of all collagen products currently on the market for animal use.
The tiny molecular mass of only 2,000 daltons on average (=2 kd, conventionally 5 kd and larger) is the basic prerequisite for the exceptionally high effectiveness. This low mass guarantees a particularly high proportion of di- and tripeptides, because only these stimulate the body's own collagen production. - CarniAktiv is particularly well tolerated. The extremely small peptides can pass through the intestinal wall without any restrictions and without burdening the digestive tract. Higher molecular collagen peptides can migrate into the intestine and develop toxins (biogenic amines) which can lead to diarrhoea and chronic intestinal diseases.
- CarniAktiv contains a particularly high proportion of amino acids found only in supporting tissue (collagen type I, type II).
The high effectiveness is supported by:
- Vitamin c. This is essential for the body's own collagen synthesis.
- Glucosamine sulphate. This is essential for the body's own synthesis of hyaluronic acid.
- What are the functions of collagen in the body? Antwort anzeigen
- It is the basis of health, mobility, strength and elasticity.
- With a share of 30%, collagen is the most abundant protein in the body.
- Collagen is the basic building block of our skeletal bones, the most important functional carrier in all joints, intervertebral discs, ligaments and tendons, in the muscles, in the skin, the respiratory tract, internal organs, in the nose, eyes and ears.

The resulting imbalance becomes visible externally in the form of the first wrinkles. The well-known "age-related degenerative joint diseases" are the result of the body's own collagen production decreasing with age.
- Highly bioavailable special collagen peptides supplied with food can successfully stimulate the body's own production of collagen and proteoglycans again. This has been proven in a large number of scientific studies.
- Why is the size of the collagen peptides so important? Antwort anzeigen
- The smaller the peptides (molecular mass) the more di- and tripeptides they contain, only these are highly effective.
- Too high a molecular mass can lead to soft faeces or diarrhoea.
- What are daltons? Antwort anzeigen
- Dalton is a unit of mass used in molecular biology, biochemistry and sometimes organic chemistry, named after the british natural scientist john dalton.
- 1 dalton corresponds approximately to the mass of an h atom or 1 atomic mass unit.
- What is collagen hydrolysate? Antwort anzeigen
- Natural collagen (gelatine) is purified by hydrolysis (water extraction process) and usually broken down by means of acids into large-molecule polypeptide chains (15,000 - 30,000 dalton).
- In contrast to gelatine, collagen hydrolysate is water-soluble, but in addition to the highly effective collagen peptides it also contains a large proportion of components that are "unimportant" for the body.
Large-molecule peptides in collagen hydrolysate can migrate into the large intestine and develop toxins (biogenes) which in turn can lead to diarrhoea.
- What is a bioactive collagen peptide? Antwort anzeigen
- Natural collagen is broken down into individual tiny peptides by a hydrolysis process and subsequent enzymatic cleavage. - Bioactive collagen gene peptides have a significantly lower mass (2,000 - 5,000 daltons) than the peptides contained in conventional collagen hydrolysate.
- Can i feed plain gelatine instead of CarniAktiv (high potency collagen peptides)?Antwort anzeigen
- To feed your dog the same amount of collagen peptides through gelatine, you need 30 to 50 times the amount as CarniAktiv. (e. G. 10g carniaktiv is equivalent to 300 - 500g gelatine).
- Although gelatine is made from the same basic material as bioactive collagen peptides, it contains very large collagen molecules (large molecules, >100.000 daltons) and is not water-soluble. These large peptides are only absorbed and incorporated by the body to a very small extent.
The collagen peptides contained in CarniAktiv are considerably smaller (2,000 daltons) and have been converted by a special enzymatic process so that they contain mainly the highly effective di- and tripeptides.
In addition, gelatine lacks additives such as vitamin c and glucosamine sulphate, which are crucial for building bone matrix and supporting tissue.
- How long should i feed CarniAktiv? Antwort anzeigen
- After the symptoms have subsided and in the case of chronic diseases, we recommend continuing to feed CarniAktiv permanently in the maintenance dose of 0.5 g per kilo of body weight. This ensures long-term nutritional support of the supporting tissue and thus enables comprehensive regeneration.
- During growth and as a preventive measure, we recommend the permanent administration of 5g per 10kg body weight, or a 3 week course of 10g per 10kg body weight 3 times a year.

- Can i feed devil's claw, rosehip or moor earth in addition to CarniAktiv? Antwort anzeigen
- Devil's claw: please refrain from giving devil's claw during the administration of carniaktiv.
Background: pain is actually only the guardian of health, because it causes sparing. Devil's claw does (somewhat) relieve pain, but - just like painkillers - it cannot help the organism to heal itself. It also has a negative effect on stomach health. - Rosehips: CarniAktiv can be given at the same time as rosehips, but we recommend only giving pure rosehip peels (without seeds) as these are better tolerated. Rosehip seeds can irritate the mucous membranes and the digestive tract.
- Mud: mud should not be given at all. It blocks the absorption capacity of the intestinal villi and thus impairs the absorption and effectiveness of CarniAktiv.
- Devil's claw: please refrain from giving devil's claw during the administration of carniaktiv.
- How does CarniAktiv differ from green-lipped mussel and msm? Antwort anzeigen
The green-lipped mussel is rich in glycosaminoglycans, which belong to the proteoglycans that support the mechanical resilience of the cartilage matrix. In addition to other vital substances such as glutamine, trace elements, vitamins c and e, the content of mussel oil (lyprinol) is particularly valuable. The bioactive collagen peptides contained in carniaktiv stimulate the body's own formation of proteoglycans. Proteoglycans are glucosamine (which we therefore also use in carniaktiv), chondroitin, hyaluronic acid and (because it can neither be fed nor injected, it is rarely mentioned, but in terms of quantity it is the largest proteoglycan fraction at over 80%) aggrecan! Aggrekan can only be produced by the body itself, this is where carniaktiv comes in. Msm is methylsulfonylmethane, an organic sulphur compound. Organic sulphur is often used for joint diseases, but so far no study has been able to prove its effectiveness. There is nothing to be said against giving CarniAktiv together with good quality green-lipped mussel powder (high oil content and low pollutant content! ) and/or msm.
